Restore or replace a database

Replace installation data from a database backup when project import is not the intended recovery.

Steps

1. Confirm the file is a database backup. For a project export, use home-screen Import project instead.
2. Create and retain a current database backup before replacement.
3. Open Settings > Database > Replace database and select the SQLite database or supported backup archive.
4. Read the replacement warning and confirm the source. Replacement does not merge projects: it replaces the active database and overwrites matching media or configuration files from the archive.
5. Follow any restart instructions, then check projects, counts, settings, and several managed files. A standalone SQLite file does not supply missing media.
