Back up a field day

Keep a verified copy of each field day’s project data away from the working device.

Steps

1. Open the project drawer and select Export project.
2. Review record counts and missing-file warnings. Choose ZIP or TAR.GZ to include available media. Light JSON.GZ contains records only and is not a complete media backup.
3. Save the export with the project name and date, and copy it to separate storage or another device.
4. Check that the copy is accessible and review warnings before treating the backup as complete. Periodically test recovery on another installation.
5. Use Import project on the home screen to recover onto a receiving installation, or Merge project within an existing project.
6. Create a full Backup database at a regular checkpoint, such as weekly, and before importing, merging, or replacing data. Retain the previous verified backup until the new one is checked.
